This metropolitan area located along Lake Champlain contains one-third of Vermont's population and is the largest city in the state. Burlington was established in 1763 when its land was given to 64 settlers as part of the New Hampshire grants. It was named one of the "Prettiest Towns in America" in 2010 by Forbes magazine. The ice cream company Ben & Jerry's was founded in Burlington. Other attractions include the Church Street Marketplace, Union Station, Fletcher Free Library, Echo Lake Aquarium & Science Center, Waterfront Park, The Emily Post Institute, Ethan Allen Homestead Museum and the Richardson Building.
