About Chateau de Fontainebleau

Also called the Palace of Fontainbeau, this chateau is one of the most famous and largest of the royal chateaus of the Loire Valley. Standing as early as 1137, the chateau was a popular hunting lodge and residence of the King of France due to the abundant wildlife in the nearby forest. Since then it has been expanded and built upon by French rulers throughout the ages, from King Louis XIII to Napoleon. Well-decorated and lavish, the halls of the chateau feature the boudoir of Marie-Antoinette, Napoleon's Throne Room, the Gallery of Francis I, St. Saturnin's Chapels, the Gallery of Diana, and much more!
