This Vancouver Island city is known for having more than 40 outdoor murals bringing more than 400,000 tourists annually to this former logging community. Chemainus was founded in 1858 and named after a Stz'uminus First Nation shaman. A Boeing 737 was sunk off the city's coast in the Pacific Ocean in 2006 to create an artificial reef. Points of interest are Chemainus Theatre, Chemainus Visitor Centre, Waterwheel Park and Fuller Lake Park.
