This capital city is widely thought of as a Hans Christian Andersen fairytale land but is actually the hippest and most cosmopolitan place in Scandinavia. Copenhagen is brimming with bars, pulsating with pubs and steeped in style. However, if looking for myth and history, it can be experienced in Copenhagen’s cobblestone streets, historic canals, in Nyhavn, which is lined with Hanseatic houses and where Andersen wrote his first fairytale, and, yes, the Little Mermaid, who can be found at the opening of Copenhagen’s harbor.
