About Los Glaciares National Park

Covering an area of 2,806.68 square miles (7,269.27 sq km), Los Glaciares National Park is a federal protected area in Santa Cruz Province, Argentina. The ice cap is the third largest in the world, after Antarctica and Greenland. Famous for its biodiversity, the Park houses parts of the Magellanic Subpolar Forest and western Patagonian Steppe. One thousand species of birds make their home in the park, as well as cougars, deer and the endangered gray fox. Los Glaciares National Park has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1980.
