About Monet House and Gardens

See the breathtaking landscape including the water lily ponds that inspired famous Impressionist painter Claude Monet in the charming French village of Giverny. Monet moved to Giverny with his family in 1883 and lived there until he died in 1926. Many of his most renowned paintings were done there. Monet's property was donated to Academie des Beaux-Arts in 1966 and later opened as a museum in 1980. The grounds features many gardens as well as the well-known Japanese bridge over a pond full of water lilies - subject of Monet's "Water Lily Pond."
