About Mount McKinley

North America's highest mountain peak is an astounding 20,237 feet above sea level in Alaska's Denali National Park & Preserve. Mount McKinley, also referred to as Mount Denali, was first noted by European George Vancouver in 1794 and its first recorded scaling, though unsuccessful, was local judge James Wickersham in 1903. It has five glaciers on its slopes and was named after the United States' 25th president William McKinley. The mountain is said to have begun forming 60 million years ago.
