The resort city along California's central coast is the self-proclaimed "Clam Capital of the World" and hosts a popular annual Clam Festival. Pismo Beach was founded in 1891 and was part of the Rancho Pismo Mexican land grant to Jose Ortega. Its sections include Shell Beach and Sunset Palisades. Points of interest are Pismo State Beach, Grover Beach, the Monarch Butterfly Grove, Price Historical Park, Dinosaur Cave Park, Oceano Dunes and Pismo Pier.
