About Yellowhead Highway

Pack your bags, it’s time for a Canadian adventure! Opened in 1970, the Yellowhead Highway connects the four western Canadian provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, and crosses the Rocky Mountains at the Yellowhead Pass, where it gets its name. Originally a fur trader route for the Hudson's Bay Company in the early 1800’s, it has grown to be a significant corridor for trade and transportation across Western Canada. Including ferries, the total length of the Yellowhead Highway is 1,840 miles (2,960 km)!
